A Day in the Life of Jessie Paterson

Monday- Wake up when I feel like it
Shower when necessary (including drip dry)
Call husband, apologize, make nice, even re-friend one another on facebook
Dress and schedule household goods delivery (YEAH that means my clothes and shoes will be here Thursday)
Drive to Blue Springs. I have a goal in mind here. First return pants to gap. They were way too big. Of course Gap has a big sale. So, I spend too much money. Way too much money.
Proceed to PetCo which is next door to the Gap. Buy expensive dog diapers ($17/12pk) Buy new kong toys. Spend $58 on dog junk. Putting the Gap and PetCo next door to one another is bad news for my checkbook.
Then I go to Gordmans. This is where I buy new pjs for myself and new beds for the dogs. This was over $100. Man, I must really love my dogs.
After finishing and getting slightly lost in this area I come upon a Panera bread. I decide to dine there for lunch. It was delicious. If you haven't tried it go eat there.
My day in the city is still not finished. I go to the Vintage Record store. Which doesn't have very many vintage things at all but rather used Dvds and a large assortment of comic books and anime. I buy the Office Season 2 and leave Blue Springs.
I got home and was relaxing with a glass of wine when I realized. Well, I realized when Dad reminded me it was my night to cook dinner and I needed to use the ground beef. So, I drove to the grocery store and got the items I needed for Ground Beef n' Biscuits.

Ground Beef n' Biscuits
I got the recipe off all recipes and included the link for it. It was quick and easy and delicious. I added an extra vegetable, corn, to the recipe and used tomato paste + water instead of tomato sauce. Everything else I followed closely. My family enjoyed the recipe. I think it should cook slightly longer than the time originally alloted. I let mine cook 25-27 min rather than only 20. This is just so the biscuits will be less doughy.  Now what meal would be complete without a glass of wine (White Zif)? It actually went horribly with the beef but wine is wine. We also enjoyed a movie while we ate, UP.

So anyways, in the future I will not give you my life play by play. I will just recall the highlights. Now you understand why. My life is not that exciting.
Oh, I also took photos of my dogs today: RIGBY

Doggy Obedience School

My dogs had their first day in obedience school. They did pretty good. I was very impressed with how they behaved. This is the web address of the place that worked with our dogs.

Gold Guns Girls [Official Music Video] - METRIC

I love that I can listen to and discover music I never really listened before in the US. It is much more creative than your average Korean pop tune.

Kansas City Chiefs Office Spoof

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Sleepless in the Suburbs

Since I am going through another sleepless night I decided to download Arcade Fire's latest release The Suburbs. Wow! It is so great! I love it. Definitely 2 thumbs up from this reviewer. After downloading the album I wanted to stay sleepless and just listen to it. So, in the end it had the opposite affect. But, I want to share this great album and specifically the song "The Suburbs."

Something Corporate - I Woke Up In A Car (Adam Young Mix)

SoCo and I don't mean the whisky

Alright who here is old enough to remember Something Corporate? Okay, does anyone remember my major obsession with not only the band but specifically frontman Andrew McMahon? Well, SoCo broke up several years ago probably 2005 or so. But, they had a 10 year reunion tour this summer. Last night, ahem ahem quiet please. Last night, I got to see the 10 yr reunion tour in Kansas City at the Uptown. Not, only did I expertly drive to downtown Kansas City I had the best navigator Jess Riggins sitting in my copilot seat. We got rockstar parking literally beside the building. I mean we looked like we owned the place. We proceeded to the door for our tickets and then quenched our hunger with some less than mediocre Indian food. Then we stopped into a little shop and looked at water pipes. At least I believe that is what you are supposed to call them. Whatever the case was the guys at the counter got mad at some teenagers for saying the B word that rhymes with L-O-N-G at a headshop. I guess that type of thing is pretty bad for business. After our incident we made our way to a little bar down the street. It was crowded with concert goers enjoying the air conditioning rather than sitting outside in 90 degree plus weather waiting for the doors to open. We enjoyed sipping a cool refreshing beverage and then proceeded to our show.
SoCo was wonderful. If I have said it once I have said it a million times, I love Andrew! They put on a great live show and specifically Andrew's voice, piano skills, and personality make it come to life. They were so money they didn't even need an opening band. They went straight in to "Straw Dog" a song about a girl named Jessica (ummm me duh). It was a great set and long filled with songs from there freshman and sophomore releases and they included one very special encore song on neither album. It is my favorite song and the song I plan to name my first child after, any guesses, anyone, okay fine you convinced me I will tell you. KONSTANTINE!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great and everyone sang along. They then followed this 10 minute ballad up with If U C Jordan in which Andrew stood up on the piano and played with his feet. It was an awesome ending to an even better show.

This is an old photo! 2003. None of the guys really look like this anymore. But, they still look great for being 27+.  After the show it was pretty crowded and my car was blocked in so we went back to the little bar down the street. Now there were plenty of red flags that should have warned us about this bar. But, we were hot, sweaty, and thirsty plus unobservant. Outside the bar we saw a very cute gay couple. These guys were just adorable and we even commented on how cute they were. Then we saw that the door was completely solid and it had no windows. Some of you may see these as warning signs, we did not. We went in and the bartender took our order and called us sweetheart. It was right under our nose and we didn't see it. We were checking out the cute guys across from the bar, one had an adorable faux hawk. We even saw an openly gay friend from college. At this point we were starting to catch on. As we looked around everyone was paired up. The guys next to us were joking and calling each other pet names. Everyone was with someone. We started to realize not only were we in a gay bar but it was all males. Our suspicions were confirmed when we saw a man come in with a hat, dark hose, a dress, and heels. His friends called him Tiara and he had hairy pits. At this point we decided to finish our drinks and see if my car was still blocked in. We stood in this line for a while not really sure what we were doing. Then someone said we were waiting for autographs. Sure enough not 5 minutes of standing in line we met Andrew and got photos with him. He signed our ticket stubs and told me how great my old school SoCo shirt was. He said it was his favorite shirt. He was incredibly nice. We enjoyed meeting him even if it was completely accidental. I mean what a good day. We finished out the evening eating at the golden arches. We spotted them from a distance and my car magically drove there all by itself. Before I knew what had happened I was sitting in a McDonald's drive thru. It was not my fault. My car did it on its own.

Give me an S

S-H-O-P-ummmmmm right P-ING

So, I forgot how great shopping is in the US. It is GrrrreAT! There are clothes that fit me and wonder of wonders you can try them on. Yes, for all you ladies who have been in Korea too long. In the good ol' US of A you can try on clothes in the fitting rooms. Store associates help you and check on you rather than eat kimchi and rice in the corner. It was FAN fricking TASTIC. But, I have cut myself off. I have reached my shopping limit. I was so excited by shirts, dresses, legging, heels, etc that I just started picking up and trying on everything that fit. I got a new wardrobe in a day. Okay, well that is a bit of an exaggeration but I got alot of stuff. So, now I must learn to say NO! Okay I am going to practice....No...NO....nO....Hey, that feels pretty good. Now, I gotta slap my wrist when I do it. NO...[slap]. Perfect, I refuse to spend anymore money shopping ever for as long as I shall live. I do. (Wait that is not right).  You may now return your clothes with the tag still on them for cash and not store credit. If this is not possible donate them to your local charity but do not pass go and do not collect $200. Thank you very much good night ladies and germs and don't forget to tip your waitress.

Same place, Same story, Same people

So, I am back in Concordia again. I am singing this tune to Back in the Saddle again. Not too many things have changed. My parents still have the same jobs and sit in the same chairs. My friends still do the same thing. In fact for my friends birthday they had a keg. I actually went to Warrensburg for a kegger. Can you believe it? The cops even showed up. I felt like I was back in time. It was like 4 or 5 years ago all over again. I actually had to go to the police station and pick my friend Ev up. However, I am much more responsible than I used to be. We had a DD so we didn't have to walk home. Hehehe. Then for Jess's birthday we went to Ernie Bigg's piano bar. It was pretty FUN! I had a nice time. We even ate at the pink box on hwy 50. It was still open and the food cost the same amount. The same people were working there. I also went to Mexico Lindo today. I had a frozen strawberry margarita just like in the old days. Luis was even back from Illinois. Can you believe it? Same people working at the same place eating the same food. Will I ever escape this town?
