The best worst day ever

So my day started out bright and early at 0415. Not my favorite hour or my favorite events. I am a soon to be divorced woman putting on a brave face for the crowd. But, this evening made up for it. My dear friend Brandon, who is soon leaving Korea, took me out to cheer me up. Boy did he ever! We went to a delicious French restaurant and had escargot. The waiter kindly showed us how to eat it correctly. I never could quite manage and instead preferred my fingers to my tongs and miniature fork. We had the house red wine which was a delicious Merlot. It was perfect not sweet and no after taste just perfect. Then our meal came, which we split. We had mussels in a blue cheese, garlic, and onion cream with french fries on the side. They were the best fries I had had in Korea and the mussels were amazing. Every bite was absolute heaven. I will most certainly return to the restaurant. I made a huge mess with my food and almost took out the Frenchman to my right with a mussel. Brandon almost took out his glass of wine in his eager attempt to open the last mussel. The dinner ended with many good laughs and a slight buzz.

The dinner was followed by a trip home on the subway. Usually the trip home is uncomfortable and boring at best. Oh and did I mention overcrowded with a strong smell of kimchi and garlic. Anyway, none of those things occurred this evening. I met a nice man who had my same tattoo. Mine says Vita Brevis Ars Long and his said Ars Longa Vita Brevis. Both mean "life is short but art is forever." I explained to him that it was the motto of Sigma Alpha Iota. Of course I then had to explain SAI was a college women's music club and that was our motto just like "Korea Fighting!" is for soccer. It worked he understood and we shared a laugh. Then I met a KATUSA. Last but not least Brandon and I met a student working on his Master's degree in Peace studies. He was extremely knowledgeable about foreign policies, economics. sociology, and politics. Plus, his English was better and his vocabulary broader than most Americans I deal with on a daily basis. I was so pleased to make his acquaintance and have an interesting discussion.

I just felt like today was a great ending to a crummy day. I wanted to share with the world how my day went from bad to great. Thank you Brandon, French food, interesting people, and of course #1 God.

Sewer line breaks, spills raw sewage into Swope Park creek - KansasCity.com

Sewer line breaks, spills raw sewage into Swope Park creek - KansasCity.com

That is ALOT of sewage. Isn't Swope Park bad enough without that smell as well. Plus, it is summer so it's hot and smelly. I bet those workers had a good time replacing that.

Weekend Plans Cancelled

Well, I ended up sick on Friday and my weekend plans got cancelled. So, I have mostly laid around all weekend. I am still going to try to go to Gyeongu on Monday. It's just right now I feel as though I should try to clean house and take care of things. Funny thing my house is REALLY REALLY MESSY! I don't know how these things happen. They just always seems too. My house or room starts a little messy and then it gets out of control. I intend to clean. I just don't get around to it. I intend to eat healthy. I don't get around to it. I intend to read books but then I don't get around to it.

I am a procrastinator of some sort. Not the type that doens't do my homework or things like that but the kind that allows small personal goals to not be achieved. Big things that affect others I will not procrastinate on  but small things that affect me like a messy house I let get out of control.

I want a lean house and I want to feel well. I gotta start somewhere. I think I will start by taking the dogs on a walk.

Laptop

Gosh I hope my new laptop screen gets here soon. I can't deal with this busted one much longer.
So, life is looking up. Sometimes you have to look at it while hanging upside down. Life that is, but, if you stay that way to long the blood will rush to your head then you pass out then you DIE! Seriously! Die!
I have air conditioning. It makes life so much better. I mean seriously the dogs and I are in heaven in our Korean apartment. It's awesome they have been sleeping all afternoon and evening just enjoying the air con (as you would say it in Korea). I have been relaxing and watching NCIS season 3. It's good. I just wish I could get season 2. I had to skip it. It was out at the library. I love that the library has so many TV shows and new movies without charge.

I am being so lazy right now I don't want to get out of my nice cool apartment. But, the thing is I really need to go to home plus. I also really need to get food. But, I am just not sue if I want to leave.

I guess no one really wants to read about how great air conditioning is. I will say this though many Koreans do without it and many places off base don't have it. If that puts its gloriousness into perspective for anyone.  Right now what I really want is Chinese delivery. American chinese delivery, not Korean chinese.
